Abstract
This research investigates the application of blockchain technology as a mechanism for strengthening data security within healthcare systems. It examines how the decentralised, immutable, and transparent properties of blockchain can address critical vulnerabilities in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems โ€” including unauthorised access, data tampering, and privacy breaches.

The study reviews existing frameworks and implementations, assesses the practical effectiveness of blockchain-based solutions in real healthcare environments, and identifies limitations such as scalability and interoperability. The findings contribute to understanding how emerging distributed ledger technologies can be leveraged to meet the rigorous data security requirements of modern healthcare infrastructure.
